AIMS History

AIMS originated in 1997 with the creation of the Project Management Information System (ProMIS) under the direct supervision of the United Nations Officer for Coordination and Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), and it becomes UNDP Project (Afghanistan Information Management Services) in July 2002. AIMS becomes a National independent non-governmental organization in July 2008, registered with Ministry of Economy, Government of Afghanistan.
Since its inception, AIMS has served the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA), humanitarian organizations and the international donor community as a provider of information management (IM) services including the development of geospatial information, software applications, database solutions, and country maps. As a preferred trainer for Government employees and provider of management and monitoring systems, AIMS has significantly improved the coordination and delivery of such services within Afghanistan, offering a dynamic approach to capacity development and resolving information management challenges facing the entire development sector.
AIMS has world standard capacity development programs and facilities in Afghanistan which provide valuable capacity building and services in geospatial information management, project management, database, data collection, map reading and English language and computer programming. With its geographical capabilities, AIMS became a key resource in the unique post-conflict Asia development environment.
