Institutional Relations and Development (IRD)

Role: Capacity development; Training and Marketing

Background: The Institutional Relations Development Department builds AIMS relationships with external bodies and provides English Language, Computer Literacy, GIS, Database trainings and also marketing to Government agencies and national and international humanitarian organizations, enabling them to benefit from new technologies such as IT and the internet. The department markets AIMS products through conducting technology awareness workshops, and also monitors relevant knowledge of the development environment in Afghanistan, especially as it relates to information management, funding sources, and potential projects. IRD also synchronizes AIMS activities, outputs, results, assessment reports and contributions to the development of Afghanistan, to strengthen partner relationships and create an awareness of AIMS in prospective customers. In addition to monitoring and gaining relevant knowledge of the development environment in Afghanistan, especially as it relates to information management, funding sources, and potential projects, IRD is used as a first connecting table for AIMS’ partners and stakeholders, including GIRA entities. This supports the overall data sharing & data reconciliation functions associated with the services and products provided by AIMS.

Structure: The department consists of a well experienced team of Afghan nationals who have been involved in the area of capacity development and marketing longer than any other department at AIMS.
